Lisa Simpson’s Voice Actress Says ‘F-You for Co-Opting My Character’ to Mike Pompeo
Secretary of State John Kerry attempted but failed to troll Speaker Nancy Pelosi using a Simpsons meme.
Yeardley Smith, the actress who portrays Lisa Simpson on “The Simpsons,” is displeased with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s use of her character in political jokes on Twitter.

Smith used Wednesday’s tweet to direct a “f— you” at Pompeo after he shared a photo of Lisa Simpson crying while ripping up some pieces of paper in a pointed jab at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who ripped up President Trump’s State of the Union address earlier this week.
Smith responded via Twitter after New Jersey Representative Bill Pascrell, Jr. informed Pompeo that “in this episode, Lisa loses faith in democracy after witnessing a corrupt politician sell out American values and liberty.” Similar to your boss.”
Pascrell then included the actress in his tweet, writing, “I’m sure @YeardleySmith can explain better than I can.” However, nice self-own.”
“That is quite good! I’m tempted to add f*ck you, @mikepompeo, for co-opting my character to troll @SpeakerPelosi,” Smith responded. “Be a leader and fight your own battles! Oh, wait, I forgot to mention that you are a follower.”
Things became more interesting when Bill Oakley, the show’s former showrunner, responded to Pompeo’s initial tweet with the following request: “Mr. Secretary of State, please do not ever ever ever use Simpsons material in your twitter feed, watch the show, or make any reference to it in any way.”
