After Roe v. Wade was overturned, Ireland Baldwin wrote about being raped and having an abortion.
After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Ireland Baldwin talked about being raped and having an abortion to help other people feel “supported and loved.”
The model, who is 26 years old, said in a nearly three-minute TikTok video on Sunday that she got pregnant while in a “very unhappy” relationship.
“He made it clear that he never wanted kids or to get married,” she said of her ex, who she did not name. “He didn’t really want to be with someone seriously.
Baldwin continued, “I chose to have an abortion because I know what it’s like to be born between two people who hate each other.” She was talking about her dad Alec Baldwin’s troubled marriage to Kim Basinger.
“Could I have gotten pregnant and then given the baby up for adoption? Maybe. “Perhaps not,” the DJ told her listeners. “But I couldn’t choose to raise a child without my own financial security and without a partner who loved and supported me.
She also said, “I chose myself, and I’d do it again.” It’s your life, do what you want with it.”
Ireland made it clear that no one else should feel forced or obligated to post their own abortion stories. She also talked openly about being raped as a teenager in the social media post.
“I didn’t know anything about it at the time, and it changed the rest of my life,” she said. “I never told anyone at the time, and I didn’t tell anyone for years. A nurse who helped me soon after was the only one who knew. Even my boyfriend at the time didn’t know. Not my mom and dad. No one.”
Ireland said that the sexual attack caused her and her family “a lot of hurt and a lot of pain.”
“I went down a spiral,” she said. “I had no power over my life. I had a lot more drinks. I went out much more. I took care of myself. I was in other relationships where I was hurt and hurt others. I did almost everything I could to get my mind off of it. Seeing so many brave women tell their stories made me think about what my life would have been like if I had gotten pregnant and had to raise a child while I was going through everything I was.
Ireland said that even though she had “medical resources, money, and support,” it would have been “traumatic and impossible.”
Many people who liked the Hollywood scion thanked her for being honest.
“Ireland, you keep surprising me with how real you are. One TikToker said, “You are also a brave woman,” and another said, “You didn’t have to do this, but because you did, you will help so many people.”
Friday, the Supreme Court overturned a landmark decision from 1973. Since then, many Irish family members have spoken out about how angry they are.
