‘Are you being bad?’ A video goes viral of daycare workers scaring kids with a Scream mask.
In a video that quickly went viral and caught the attention of the authorities, you can see the caretaker chasing after scared children.
Five daycare workers have been charged with child abuse after a video went viral of a former daycare worker in Mississippi scaring kids while wearing a scary mask. The video shows the woman scaring the kids while wearing a scary mask.
The video, which WTVA says was shot on October 4 at Lil’ Blessings Child Care in Monroe County, led the Mississippi State Department of Health and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office to look into the situation a few days after it went viral on social media.
Sierra McCandless, Oci-Anna Kilburn, Jennifer Newman, and Shyenne Shelton, all of whom used to work at the center, are now being charged with three counts of felony child abuse. Traci Hutson is being charged with failing to report abuse and simple assault against a minor, according to WTVA.
When asked questions, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office did not answer right away.
The daycare center and its owner, who is named in state documents as Sheila Sanders, could not be reached right away.
Sanders told the Monroe Journal in the past that she fired the people involved in the incident, which she said she didn’t know about until she saw the video.
Sanders told the newspaper, “I’ve never agreed with that, and I never will.”
The video shows an unnamed worker at Lil’ Blessings Child Care in Hamilton wearing what looks like a mask of Ghostface, the main villain in the 1990s horror movie Scream, while walking among the crying children.
Another worker without a mask is standing off to the side.
No one knows who took the video.
At one point, the employee in a mask points to a child and looks at the employee who isn’t wearing a mask, who then says “bad.”
The worker in a mask then gets close to the face of that child.
The worker asks the child, “Are you being bad?”
“Do you want to go outside?” Then the worker yells at the child.
The worker yells at the child again before turning to look at the camera.
The worker turns back to the child and says, “You better be good.”
The video then shows the masked worker going into what looks like a second room. This makes the children scream and cry.
Both the worker and the person taking the video ask the kids something about “cleaning up” that can’t be heard.
The worker then yells, “Clean up!” and chases a child around the room until he or she is finally caught.
The worker screams, “Clean up! Clean up!” The worker yells a few more times and then leaves the room.
Even though the video upset them, parents of children who go to the daycare said they still supported the place and its owner.
“Was what did happen a terrible thing? Kimberly Smith, whose child is in one of the videos, told AP, “Absolutely.”
“But should this daycare be closed and the people who are still here be made fun of? “No way, no how.”
Chas Allen, another parent, told the Monroe Journal that the daycare center is important for Hamilton, which is not a town.
The directory ChildcareCenter.us says that the building is the only daycare center in the area.
“Many people are telling me to shut up. “‘Shut it down,'” Allen said, “but I don’t think they’re thinking about what that might mean.”
