After 19 years of marriage, Toni Collette and David Galafassi are divorcing.
Photos of the Australian actress’s husband were made public today, marking a rare public declaration about her personal life.
Toni Collette and her husband of 19 years recently announced their plans to divorce.
The 50-year-old Australian actress and 44-year-old musician David Galafassi tied the knot in 2003 and now have two children together. Collette released a joint statement announcing the shocking breakup on her recently revived Instagram account.
Photos of Collette’s husband kissing another woman on a Sydney beach were published by an Australian media outlet today, prompting the divorce announcement. It was yesterday that the pictures were supposedly taken.
We are announcing our divorce with gratitude and grace. The Knives Out actress began her message by saying, “We’re united in our decision and part with continuing respect and care for each other.”
Our children are the most important part of our lives, and we are committed to our continued success as a family unit, in whatever form that may take. We appreciate the time and care you’re giving us as we change and grow. Thanks a ton!”
The couple has maintained a low profile regarding their marriage. In a post accompanied by the caption, “I’m back.,” Collette reactivated her Instagram account just five days ago to share a photo of herself sipping from a “Happy Birthday” cup. The name is Hello World. In other words, “I adore you.”

Collette posted a cryptic quote on her Instagram stories hours before announcing her divorce that read, “No matter what your current circumstances are, if you can imagine something better for yourself, you can create it.”
In 2019, Collette and Galafassi brought their two children, Sage, 14, and Arlo, 11, back to Sydney from Los Angeles. Since the early 2000s, they’d called the United States home.
Collette, a winner of both a Golden Globe and an Emmy, first met Galafassi in 2002 at the album release party for his then-band, the Australian-based Gelbison. A year later, in a traditional Buddhist ceremony, they tied the knot.
On Christmas Day of 2019, Galafassi was involved in a near-fatal motorbike accident in rural New South Wales; the Muriel’s Wedding starlet later took to social media to express gratitude to the paramedics who saved her husband’s life.
My husband was in a terrible motorcycle accident not too long ago. He’s doing fine and is slowly getting better. It’s a miracle that he’s still with us. She wrote on Instagram, “If it weren’t for the incredible people at NSW Ambulance and Toll Ambulance Rescue, this might not be the case.”
“I really appreciate your efficiency, precision, expertise, kindness, and hard work. It’s impossible to express how grateful we are to you for rescuing him. That’s right, everyone, it really is a wonderful Christmas. Please accept my gratitude.
