Ted Nugent tested positive for Covid-19.
Rocker Ted Nuggent is revealing his agony after testing positive for coronavirus — months after he claimed the virus was “not a true pandemic.”
“I thought I was going to die,” Nugent says in a Monday Facebook live video. “I literally could not crawl out of bed the last few days,” he continued, “and as a result, I was officially diagnosed with COVID-19 today.”
In the video, which was shot at his Michigan ranch, the “Cat Scratch Fever” singer repeatedly refers to COVID-19 with racist slurs and reiterates his previous stance that he would not receive the vaccine because “nobody knows what’s in it.”
Nugent, a Trump supporter, has previously dismissed the pandemic as a hoax and railed against public health restrictions. He has repeated a narrative promoted by conservative media and debunked by health experts that the coronavirus’s official death toll is inflated.
According to a late March poll conducted by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, 36% of Republicans said they will probably or definitely not get vaccinated, compared to 12% of Democrats. The seven-day national average of new infections continues to exceed 60,000 per day.
