A copyright claim takes down a supposed leak of a Silent Hill screen shot.
A DMCA request has since taken down four alleged Silent Hill images that were leaked by a Twitter user named Aesthetic Gamer (also known as Dusk Golem). People weren’t sure if the images were real, but the copyright claim suggests that they are.
Aesthetic Gamer wrote in the first tweet that shared the images, “This comes from a source I haven’t heard of before, but I have more than enough evidence to believe them. I’ll also say “Anita & Maya,” “SMS Messages,” and that this isn’t the only SH game in development. The pictures are from 2020, which is a bit old.”
The art that was leaked is no longer on Aesthetic Gamer’s Twitter, but you can find it on the ResetEra forums. The first picture shows a dirty room with a lot of trash, things that have been thrown away, and wallpaper that is coming off. In the second picture, a woman’s face has the words “minger” and “I hate myself” written on it. She is staring at the viewer. The British slang makes it sound like the game will take place in the UK or at least have something to do with the UK.
The third picture shows what looks like sticky notes all over a hallway. A person who can’t be seen stands at the end of the hallway. They are dressed in a scary red. You can see the word “pervert” and another swear word. The fourth picture looks like a sketch of the third picture. In the bottom right corner, you can see the signature of Masahiro Ito, who made the famous Pyramid Head design.
Some people don’t think the leak is real. Tomm Hulett, who used to work for Konami, said on Twitter, “If a studio has more than one person sending information to a known leaker, they are not professional enough to do the game justice.” In another tweet, it says, “To be clear, I tweeted this in part to show that these leaks are not real. I don’t think so. I’ve already seen people say that I’m telling them they’re right. I don’t work for Konami, and I haven’t for almost a decade. I don’t know anything special or secret about SH.”
As for Aesthetic Gamer’s vague description of what we can expect, the phrase “SMS messages” probably refers to the old rumor that the game will have an interactive part that will send you text messages. Over on ResetEra, Aesthetic Gamer also said that Sony is still involved and that Konami was the one who filed the DMCA.
As you might expect, there are a lot of rumors about which studio will make the new Silent Hill game. Bloober Team is a well-known name because the company is said to be working on new projects with Konami. We don’t know anything for sure yet, so we’ll have to wait for more details.
