The Wagatha Christie scandal will be explored in the courtroom drama Vardy v. Rooney.
You were there when the scandal happened, but there’s nothing like reliving it in a movie or TV show.
If the sad “Wagatha Christie” story kept you interested earlier this year, you’re about to be very happy.
The real-life drama between feuding people Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney is so interesting that it has already caught the attention of the whole world. This makes it perfect material for a TV miniseries.
In the libel case, two “WAGs,” or wives of football players, Vardy and Rooney, fought it out in court. One of them accused the other of giving the tabloid press her private Instagram posts.
Rooney thought Vardy was the one who did it and said so in public, which made Vardy sue for slander. The whole ugly thing happened in court, where everyone could hear every bad word.
The next step is to turn it into a play, so in waltzes In Vardy v. Rooney: A Courtroom Drama, the real court transcripts will be used to act out the events.
Natalia Tena, who was in the Harry Potter movies, will play Vardy, and Chanel Cresswell, who was in This Is England ’90, will play Rooney. The real draw is Michael Sheen, who is very good at playing characters that are based on real people, like Rooney’s lawyer David Sherborne.
Dion Lloyd and Marton Nagyszokolyai will play Wayne Rooney and Jamie Vardy, who are their teammates on the football team.
On January 15 at 8:40 p.m., the series will air on Foxtel and be available to stream on Foxtel on Demand.
