Jessie James Decker sobs in response to derogatory remarks about her weight gain.
Jessie James Decker sobbed in response to hurtful comments about her weight gain.
The 33-year-old singer of “Lights Down Low” stated in an Instagram Story video. Tuesday, she received a Reddit thread that “rips” her apart “daily” over her weight.
“It’s pretty horrific, and I can’t believe this still happens in the world — that people do this,” she said. “Yes, I have gained 100 percent of my body weight. I used to be fixated on it. I attempted to maintain a certain weight, and in the last year, I’ve decided to just let myself live. “I work out and eat whatever I want, and I’m 100% 10 pounds heavier than I was.”
Decker previously weighed 115 pounds but is now content with her current weight.
The country music star continued by describing the Reddit page as “so disgusting.”
“How are you going to be able to wake up and live with yourself?” she inquired. “I’m trembling with disbelief at what I’m reading.”
With tears in her eyes, Decker explained to her followers that the vicious comments have caused her to doubt herself and her self-esteem.
“It’s hurtful, and I am such a strong, confident person, and I always have been, but it does break my heart a little that people are tearing apart every aspect of me,” Decker said, sobbing completely. “It is me, and it is bullying, and it is not acceptable. I hope my daughter does not grow up in a world where this type of behavior is acceptable. I believe we could all do better.”
Decker concluded her video by reminding viewers that she is a “flawed” human being.
“Remember that you are not alone,” she advised. “I’m going to wipe away my tears and gather my wits because I’m a mother.”
Decker and her husband, former NFL star Eric Decker, share a daughter, Vivianne, 7, and two sons, Eric Jr., 5, and Forrest, 3.
The singer’s candid video comes on the heels of Food Network star Valerie Bertinelli’s own breakdown over online comments about her weight.
