His representative said that the actor, who is known for playing Hawkeye in the Marvel Avengers movies, had surgery.
His agent said in a statement that the actor was in critical but stable condition after being taken to the hospital with serious injuries he got in an accident while plowing snow in Nevada.
A representative, Samantha Mast, said in a statement that Mr. Renner had surgery on Monday and that the accident had left him with “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.” She also said that Mr. Renner was still in the intensive care unit.

The Washoe County, Nevada, sheriff’s office said that Mr. Renner had a “traumatic injury” in Reno on Sunday morning. The sheriff’s office said he was the only person hurt in the accident. He was flown to a nearby hospital. The Reno-Gazette Journal says that Mr. Renner has a house in the Mount Rose-Ski Tahoe area.
Mr. Renner, who is 51 years old, has played Hawkeye, one of the superheroes on Marvel’s Avengers team, in a number of movies and a TV show. He has also been nominated for an Oscar twice, for his parts in “The Hurt Locker” (2008) and “The Town” (2010).
Ms. Mast said that Mr. Renner and his family were “overwhelmed and grateful” for all the love and support they got from his fans.
This winter, when there was a lot of snow in the Reno area, Mr. Renner shared a few updates on social media.
Last week, a snow plow was shown in an Instagram video with the caption, “Almost done with the kids’ sledding hill.”
In a tweet from last month that showed a car covered in snow, he said, “The snow at Lake Tahoe is no joke.”
“Mayor of Kingstown,” a thriller with Mr. Renner in the lead role, is getting its second season on the Paramount+ streaming service on January 15. Another show, “Rennervations,” will air on Disney+ early this year. It will follow Mr. Renner as he works with communities to rethink purpose-built vehicles.
In addition to a warning for the Lake Tahoe Basin, the National Weather Service put out a winter storm warning for the Reno area over the weekend. The Tahoe Basin at lake level got between 20 and 24 inches of snow on Saturday and Sunday, according to the Weather Service in Reno.
Sunday, the Weather Service told people who were going to drive through the Sierra Nevada that they should be ready for winter driving conditions and warned of icy roads as more storms come. PowerOutage.us, which collects data from utilities across the country, says that the storm left about 22,000 people in Nevada without power early on Monday.
