Jennie Garth was confined to an animal cage in order to escape her adoring fans.
Being famous is not always straightforward.
Jennie Garth, star of 90210, recounted in an interview with People magazine’s “In the 90’s” podcast her experience of being placed in an animal cage with the late Luke Perry to escape the overly adoring fans.
“And it summed it up for me because I felt like a zoo animal,” Garth explained to the podcast’s hosts, one of whom was co-star Tori Spelling. “It was bizarre. And then it became too insane, with people rushing the zoo cages. And we were required to exit through one of the animal enclosures — I’m not sure which one, the monkeys or something — but I do recall them actually putting us in a cage at the zoo. And I thought, ‘This feels good.'”
Garth described it as “one of the most pivotal moments” in her realization of her celebrity.
Spelling, on the other hand, helps us remember things in a different way.
“I suppose when everyone became obsessed with us, especially the boys, they would go insane for the boys,” Spelling explained. “And we were like, ‘They’re dreamy, but we spend every day with them.’ As a result, it was quite different to observe how girls reacted.”
