Following a serious car accident in Wyoming on Friday that put him in the hospital, Jeffree Star is speaking out.
“This morning was one of the scariest moments of our lives,” the YouTube star, 35, wrote later that afternoon in an update posted on Twitter and Instagram. “I’m so happy to still be alive. My back is broken, and I have vertebrae fractures in my neck, so I’m in excruciating pain.”
“My doctor said it would take a few months, but I should be fine,” he went on to say.
According to the beauty influencer, Star’s friend Daniel Lucas was also hurt in the terrifying incident.
“My best friend Daniel has internal injuries, and since he’s survived colon cancer three times, he’s having organ problems, and they’re watching him around the clock,” Star said. “Soon, we’ll have more details. Thank you to anyone who has kept an eye on us.”
Star first revealed the details of his accident on social media on Friday, writing that he and Lucas “were in a serious car accident and the car flipped three times after hitting black ice” that day.
Star was also seen in a hospital bed, wearing a neck brace, while Lucas sat by his side, according to the update.
“We’ll keep you all updated as soon as the doctor sends us more details,” the post continued. “I’m so glad they’re still alive.”
According to Wyoming Highway Patrol Sergeant Jeremy Beck, the crash was first reported shortly after 8:30 a.m. local time on Friday. Star and “another male” were driving on Hat Six Road at the time of the crash, and “ended up losing control, driving off the roadway, and rolling.”
“Up in that area, there was slush on the roadway,” Beck said, adding that Star was “transported to a hospital in Casper.”
Star was driving the car, and both he and Daniel were wearing seatbelts, according to Beck. The accident is also being investigated further.
Following the purchase of a home in Casper last year, Star has been spending more time in Wyoming, according to Dirt.
When asked about the land he owns in the state, he wrote this week, “I love my privacy.” “I’m doing nothing about it except looking at all in nature and taking in my breathtaking dream.”
