For ‘years,’ Dieter Brummer was secretly dating Home and Away actress Kristy Wright.
Dieter Brummer’s secret romance with former Home and Away actress Kristy Wright was revealed in a series of heartbreaking Instagram posts by the actress.
After learning of the former heartthrob’s death on Monday at the age of 45, Wright took to Instagram to express how the tragedy had left her “numb.”
Wright, who starred in the hit drama as Chloe Richards from 1995 to 1999, said, “I don’t have any words right now, but my heart is screaming.”

“Rest In Peace, my sweet Dieter, my first true love.”
Brummer established himself as half of one of Summer Bay’s most iconic couples in his role as Shane Parrish.
The relationship between his character and Melissa George’s Angel left an indelible imprint on the hearts of an entire generation of Australians.
The star’s death – which is not being treated as suspicious – was confirmed by his devastated family on Monday afternoon in a statement.

“I am posting this today with a heavy heart on behalf of my family,” the statement read.
“On Saturday morning, we lost our handsome, talented, funny, complicated, and beloved Dieter. He has left a huge hole in our lives, and our world will never be the same.
We send our condolences to everyone who knew him, loved him, or worked with him over the years.
“We appreciate your sensitivity to our privacy during this trying time.”

Following her emotional post about how the news had affected her, Brummer’s former love Wright revealed additional details about their secret romance on Instagram.
“This is a difficult one… Dieter was a very private person, but he was also adored by so many people worldwide that I feel compelled to pay tribute to him,” the actress wrote.
“Even if this moment does not appear to be real. Even though the tears will not cease to flow.”
Wright revealed that the pair began dating when she was 17 years old. Brummer had recently concluded his tenure on Home and Away, while Wright had just begun.

“I’m not sure how we did it, but we kept our relationship hidden from the prying eyes of the media,” Wright revealed.
“Our young love blossomed in secrecy. Our first meeting took place at Balmoral beach. He invited me to a picnic. We ended up sitting for nearly ten hours, from late afternoon to early morning, discussing everything from the cosmos to our childhoods and our hopes and dreams. Anyone who knows Dieter well understands how much he cherished discussion and debate. I was a young suburban girl when he became Australia’s heartthrob… but he was so normal!
“Such a down-to-earth person… but still so fascinating. I immediately fell in love with him, and fortunately for me, he felt the same way.”

Wright referred to the actors as “each other’s safety blankets” and referred to them as “best friends.”
“Even years later, our friendship endured,” she wrote.
Wright described the former pin-up as “a lover of the outdoors” and a “all-around adventurer.”
“He was courageous and a risk taker. We spent numerous weekend camping trips throughout Australia. Both of us adored being out in the wilderness… we weren’t interested in parties or fancy industry events; all we needed were our dogs, each other, and the vast open sky.”

According to the actress, those times spent together shaped her “in the most profound way.”
“He was intelligent, amusing, and provocative. He had high expectations of people because he knew we were capable of so much more as a species,” Wright continued.
“He was unforgiving of fools and a proud member of the grammar police. He adored language. I delighted in possessing an obscure word that no one else possessed. He was a believer in existentialism. He was profound. Much deeper than the majority of people realize. I’m eternally grateful that we remained friends, as he has been a constant in my life for over 25 years and someone I can call at any hour. We were each other’s.”

Wright concluded her heartbreaking post by stating that she did not wish to discuss Brummer’s identity any further “because that is a gift for his friends and family to keep for themselves.”
“It’s self-evident that the world lost a gift this weekend,” she stated.
“A luminous, one-of-a-kind, and complex man. A man who was deserving of more. I adore you, Deet. My heartfelt condolences to you and your lovely family. They adored you above all else in this world, and my heart breaks knowing how much pain they are currently experiencing.
“Fly high on the wings of Angel. Keep an eye on us. And we’ll see you when we arrive.”
