As reported, a member of the security team for the popular music group, Fuerza Regida, was tragically killed in an ambush in Veracruz. The incident occurred during an attempted robbery while the team was traveling along the Cumbres de Maltrata route, going from Mexico City to Quintana Roo.
Details of the Ambush
While descending the Cumbres de Maltrata, the six-man security team was confronted by unidentified assailants armed with high-caliber weapons. The attackers opened fire on the vehicle in an attempt to force it to a halt. Despite the sudden attack, the driver courageously accelerated away, evading the perpetrators. Unfortunately, one of the bullets struck a security member, causing severe injuries.
Following the incident, the injured man was transported to the Regional Hospital of Río Blanco. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, he later succumbed to his injuries in the Intensive Care Unit.
Response from Law Enforcement
The National Guard’s Highway Division, responsible for patrolling the highway zone, together with officers from the State and Accredited Ministerial Police, arrived at the hospital after the incident. The vehicle, showing evident signs of the attack, was seized as part of the investigation. The Veracruz Prosecutor’s Office has since announced the initiation of an investigation into the incident.
