Erika Jayne faces backlash after tweeting a ‘insensitive’ GIF in the midst of legal troubles.
She is as icicle-cold as ice.
Erika Jayne faced backlash after tweeting a GIF that fans deemed “insensitive” in light of her ongoing legal troubles.
“Go be offended by your own life,” the 49-year-old star of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” said in the GIF, which was taken from a clip from the show.
Among other charges, Jayne and her estranged husband, lawyer Tom Girardi, have been accused of embezzling money from his clients — many of whom are widows, orphans, or victims of a 2018 Lion Air Flight plane crash — in order to fund their extravagant lifestyle.
As a result, several social media users took issue with Jayne’s Tuesday post.
“You are not the victim in this story,” one person wrote.
Another remarked, “Even if you didn’t do it, why are you acting this way?” There is no empathy.”
Then another added, “This is repulsive, disappointing, and utterly insensitive.”
Jayne’s tweet is not clear whether it was in response to the scandal. Page Six reached out to her representative for comment but did not receive a response immediately.
The reality star has come under fire from social media users and fellow Bravolebrities in recent weeks following the release of Hulu’s documentary “The Housewife and the Hustler,” which focused on Jayne and Girardi’s case.
Kelly Dodd, a former cast member of “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” spoke out about the documentary on Page Six’s Instagram last week, writing, “I just watched that last night and I cried so hard for those victims… If I were her, I would sell everything I own and donate it to those who have been duped for 40 years. Act with integrity.”
Apart from her dubious tweet, Jayne has remained relatively silent about her situation.
Her “RHOBH” co-star Kyle Richards recently provided a brief update, stating that her friend is “doing well” but adding that “obviously it’s a difficult time.”
Jayne is expected to divulge additional details about this season of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” which airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
