It was a TikTok star’s father who killed an armed stalker at their home in Florida.
For fun, a Florida teenager used TikTok to make videos of herself and her friends having fun. Then, a stalker showed up at her family’s home in 2020 and fired a shotgun through their front door.
She started a TikTok account in 2020 when she was 13, and in less than a year, she had more than a million followers. She shared videos of herself dancing and lip-syncing to popular music.
A fan sent messages to the teen on three of her social media platforms: Tiktok, Snapchat, and Instagram. She noticed that she was getting messages from the same person on all three.
People who are fans of Majury told the New York Times that when she first met the person on the site, 18-year-old Eric Rohan Justin, she sent him a general greeting.
“I used to say things like, “Hey, how was your day?””
But from there, Justin was able to get in touch with some of Ava’s classmates. He paid them to get pictures of her and her cell phone number. Ava didn’t know this at the time.
Before moving to Naples in 2019, Ava said she unfollowed her friends from Florida and from New Jersey, where the family lived before moving there in 2019.
‘Oh, you’re going Hollywood on us all. You don’t want to talk to us anymore.’ As she said, “And I said, “You’re selling my things,” she said.
Parents let Ava sell Justin a few selfies that had been shared on Snapchat. Ava makes a lot of money as an influencer.
“I didn’t send anything from my body,” Ava said. “It was just pictures of my face, which is what I think he paid for,” I said. My whole thing is my pretty smile. That’s what I’m happy about.
But soon after, Justin started texting her on Venmo and asking for “booty pics” and pictures of her feet in exchange for money, so she agreed to meet him.
That was when Ava blocked Justin from all of her accounts. He kept trying, though. He sent her three payments totaling more than $600 and begged her to unblock him.
He then sent a text to Ava’s father, Rob Majury, a retired police lieutenant. He told Justin not to talk to his daughter.
From there, Justin’s behavior changed in a dangerous way. One of Ava’s classmates told the Times that he started planning his attack after he talked to her, and text messages show that he did so.
This is what Justin asked the classmate. In one text, he said, “I think I could just shoot through the door.”
Ava’s family learned that Justin lived a long way away, which eased some of their fears.
At first, her father didn’t like Justin very much because he was “one of these keyboard cowboys.”
The person told the Times that “I kind of disregarded what could have been a threat.”
It turned out that Justin’s evil plan came true on July 10, 2020, when he burst into their home and shot a shotgun shell through their front door.
“All I remember is that I heard it, felt it in my chest, and looked up, and there was a hole in my door from the fragments.”
As soon as her father woke up, he ran out of bed and ran to the door. He saw Justin on the lawn of their home. Her mother called 911.
As the retired cop tried to chase down the teen gunman, his foot got caught in his shoelace. The suspect ran away when the cop fell down.
The father grabbed his gun and waited for the police to arrive before he did anything else. Before they did, Justin came back.
Ava’s father told Justin to put down the shotgun, but he didn’t. Instead, he pointed it at the stalker, which caused the dad to open fire, killing him.
Justin was found by police with two phones full of pictures of Ava.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office report said that “the subject was most likely a stalker because her daughter was so active on social media.”
The investigation is still going on. Under the state’s “stand your ground” law, Ava’s father says police told him that he could shoot his daughter because he was in self-defense.
Despite what happened, Ava is still on TikTok and other platforms.
It was Ava’s mother, Kim Majury who told the Times that she didn’t want her daughter, Ava, to be taken away from social media by “sick people.”
Why should we let them stop her? It’s possible that she was meant to make people aware of all of this, Kim Majury said.
As for Ava, she said that the money she makes from her social media stardom is nice, but that the whole experience is more important to her.
I got to go to LA, meet the people I met. When I can make other people smile, I enjoy the pleasure of seeing how my actions made them happy.
